UNDERGRADUATES

Tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduates are $16,800 per semester, or $33,600 for the year.  Grants and scholarships may reduce this substantially.

Most of the other costs are general living expenses.  A short online questionnaire provided by the federal government called a Net Price Calculator gives an estimate of the actual cost of college attendance to you.  It takes into account the average amount of scholarships and grants received by USK undergraduates. It is not a guarantee.  Always speak with University of Saint Katherine staff about your exact situation, admissions@usk.edu or financialaid@usk.edu.

The Undergraduate Cost of Attendance (COA) is a tool used by the government in its need-based financial aid calculations. The COA does not take scholarships and grants into account.

Scholarships are awarded by the University of Saint Katherine as well as by outside agencies and foundations. Students may also qualify for State and Federal Student Aid Programs.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

Some of the information below applies primarily to incoming freshmen and transfer students into a B.A./B.S. program.  If you are applying for a graduate degree program, a certification prep class, or a certification of achievement program, you are encouraged to email admissions@usk.edu with your questions.

To be considered for a scholarship, first submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at the following link: https://studentaid.govUSK FAFSA CODE is 042597. The University will develop a financial aid package.

The University participates in Federal Title IV Student Aid Programs and the Cal Grant program through the state of California. A FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is required by both programs. GPA Verification is also required for the Cal Grant program.

It is the goal of USK to keep costs low in order to reduce the debt burden on students after graduation. All students who fill out a FAFSA are eligible for student loans through Title IV. Please go to https://studentaid.gov for all the information needed to understand Title IV loan programs: Financial Awareness Counseling, Entrance Counseling, and to sign the MPN if the student wants to take out the available loans. Taking out student loans is NOT necessary to pay for tuition and fees at USK if the student has other means to pay their balance.

California state residents pursuing a Bachelors degree may be eligible for grants from the State of California. For information on eligibility, go to https://www.csac.ca.gov/cal-grants. To check a Webgrants account, go to https://webgrants.csac.ca.gov/common/logon.aspx.

If the student is eligible, it is important that they complete and submit their FAFSA by March 2nd of 2022 for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. California high schools are required to submit GPA verification to CSAC. If the student did not receive state financial aid on high school completion transfers to USK from a California Community College, the student must submit a GPA verification from their College Registrar.

Cal Grant Award: Prorated per day (assuming the student has completed everything required, and his or her admission file and financial aid file are complete prior to the last date of attendance). These funds will not be used to reimburse the federal government. If applicable, they will be returned to CSAC prior to all other awards, other than Return to Title IV funds. The student understands that receipt of any prorated amount will charge an entire semester’s worth of Cal Grant eligibility. The application deadline for the Cal Grant is March 2nd. For more information please call the Cal Grant Office – student hotline 888.224.7268.

Cal Grant B Access Award: If the student withdraws after the add/drop period, the student will receive the full award amount for the semester.

A student who withdraws on or after the 60% point in the semester will be charged for the full semester.

The State Approving Agency (SAA) has approved several programs of enrollment for those eligible to receive GI Bill® Benefits. These programs are administered by the US Department of Veteran's Affairs. In addition to the Federal Direct Loan Program, students may also apply for private loans. The University encourages students and their families to explore rates offered by different lenders because they may vary based on credit scores and other factors.

The University does not have a preferred lender and does not endorse any lenders. It is important to read the disclosure on the lender's website. More information and loan applications are available on the following links:
