Why Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology at USK?

Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology at the University of Saint Katherine focuses on increasing the understanding of motivation and exercise adherence for individuals in both the athletic and general populations. Students will be introduced to psychological theories and strategies related to performance enhancement, injury prevention and rehabilitation, health behavior change, and general health and well-being, among others. This concentration prepares students for careers in athletics, fitness and wellness, rehabilitation, corporate wellness and business, coaching, research and education. The required internship will equip students to work with a variety of individuals and their sport, exercise and performance goals. Upon completion, students will be positioned to enter the workforce or continue with graduate studies in sport and exercise psychology or a related field. This concentration also provides a sequence of courses that, once completed, awards students with a micro-credential in Psychology of Coaching.
